Memorial Globes

I craft each globe in a small glass studio in Renton, Washington. I love the idea of combining passions. In my case the passion of veterinary medicine and working with molten glass. While the combination may seem unusual I feel that I may not only help people heal a little but I give a bit of myself to art. Please view these examples with the knowledge that permission was given to allow the pictures of the pieces to be present on this site.

The memorial  globes are crafted with varying patterns in them. These patterns are two types of a Swirl (Swirl 1 and Swirl 2), Free Form, and Orbit.  Examples and descriptions of all forms are shown below. The size is about 3 and 1/2 inches in diameter and 1 and 1/2 pounds. Because the globes are made by hand from start to finish with raw materials no two pieces are alike. Part of what I love about creating these pieces is the same pattern produces such unique varieties.

One, two or more colors can be chosen. If you have any questions or any alternate requests just contact me and I will do my best to accommodate.

The purchase price of a custom memory globe is $175. For gold leaf added to color add $25 to cost. Click here to order.

Swirl style 1

This is an example of a color swirl formed over ashes. The colors chosen for this piece were hyacinth violet and honey yellow.

Swirl style 2

This is an example of ashes integrated with the color swirl. The colors chosen were dark blue and beryl green.

Top view of blue and beryl green piece.

Free Form

This is an example of Free Form. The ashes are underneath the color. The color is manipulated into a more random pattern and air bubbles are part of the intention of the piece. This is a highly variable yet beautiful pattern. The colors used in this piece are old gold and dark blue.

Orbit

This pattern is ash and color surrounding a solid or multiple color core.   Many colors can be combined. Shown are dark blue core and old gold orbit.
